Aussie blues troubador at The Sailor

An Australian folk-country blues troubadour will be bringing his stories to Hitchin next week.

The gravel-voiced acoustic guitarist and banjo player, Rory Ellis will be performing his good time music with a dark edge – think Nick Cave backed by Johnny Cash - at The Sailor on Thursday.

The free gig is part of a European tour of his fifth studio album, Perfectly Damaged, which came out on Monday.

The Victoria musician, who has spent many years touring internationally both solo and with the likes of Richie Havens, Robert Cray Band and Canned Heat, said he takes his inspiration from his homeland and the varied histories of its people, and his own eventful life.

The music begins at 8pm.
