Over the Hedge (U) Fast-paced CG animation fun with a bunch of furry characters including a racoon voiced by hard man Bruce Willis. Slightly formulaic but entertaining. 3/5

* Just My Luck (PG) Underwhelming life swap frivolity with Lindsay Lohan. Lucky lass Ashley (Lohan) appears to have swapped her fortune with a boy called Jake and seeks to reverse this by trying to find her Prince Charming. 2/5

* Reeker (15) Surprisingly good teen horror based around a group of ravers stuck in the desert being attacked by a smelly monster. Although not entirely original, it is well thought out and definitely worth a look. 4/5

* The Lake House (PG) Speed stars Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are reunited in this mystical romance. Bullock is a lonely doctor who leaves a note for the next tenant of her house, which is somehow found by Reeves two years earlier. Implausibilities abound in this time travelling love story and even the two leads' chemistry is not enough to make it work. 2/5

* Fearless (15) This biopic about 19th century martial arts supremo Huo Yuan-Jia is Jet Li's final foray into the wushu genre. Since turning to Hollywood, Li has not lived up to the highs of his early output. This is as close as he has got. Not bad. 3/5

* Ultraviolet (15) Futuristic sci-fi staring Milla Jovovich as a vampire-like creature created by bioglogical warfare research gone wrong. Jovovich is in good shape in a range of natty costumes but that's about all it has going for it. 1/5

* The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (12A) Yep, there's another one in the fast car franchise. The plot is secondary to the speed freak action, and if that's your thing, you'll be more than happy. 3/5

* Hard Candy (18) An online chatroom is the starting point for the events of this clever thriller, which sees a 32-year-old man face surprising consequences when he takes a 14-year-old girl home. 4/5

* Thank you for Smoking (15) A not entirely straightforward but none the less enjoyable satire about a spin doctor employed by a major cigarette company. Aaron Eckhart, Cameron Bright, Katie Holmes and William H Macy star. 3/5

* The Omen (15) Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles star as the parents mistakenly raising the son of the devil in this horror remake. Director John Moore has done nothing much with his source material to make it better or different from the original. 3/5

* RV: Runaway Vacation (PG) Robin Williams plays Bob Munro in this predictable story of a father trying to solve his family's problems with a road trip in an RV. The dysfunctional family are united against a string of misfortunes. 2/5

* United 93 (15) A harrowing and tense recreation of the actions of those onboard, and those on the ground trying to help, the plane which hijackers intended to fly into the White House on September 11. Thought-provoking stuff. 4/5

* The Da Vinci Code (12A) Starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou, this is an eagerly anticipated film from the bestselling novel. This proves to be an action-packed adventure with biblical flashbacks following Prof Robert Langdon as he struggles to unravel an ancient code to solve the greatest mystery of all. 4/5

* The Wild (U) It's another animal-ation and this time the star is Samson the lion who's top cat at his home, the New York City Zoo. 3/5

* X-Men: The Last Stand (12A) The X-Men are divided when a cure is found to treat mutations. This supposedly final instalment sees the return of the key mutant heroes, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Ian McKellen as Magneto and Halle Berry as Storm. 4/5
