* Just Friends (12A) A reasonably successful comedy in which hunky music executive Ryan Reynolds (from Van Wilder: Party Liaison) goes back to his home town to see if he can win the heart of his childhood crush. 3/5

* Running Scared (18) Paul Walker stars as a junior mobster tasked with disposing of guns used in mob killings. But the silly man hasn't been getting rid of them properly, he's been hiding them in the wall at home... 2/5

* The Producers (12A) A film version of the hit Broadway musical, starring Nathan Lane as a failing producer trying to get rich with a new show, Springtime For Hitler. Uma Thurman, Will Ferrell and Matthew Broderick co-star. 3/5

* King Kong (12A) This blockbuster delves into Jurassic Park territory with dinosaurs and all sorts of nasties threatening the visitors to Skull Island and that's before we meet the giant gorilla. Far too long at 188 minutes but still a spectacularly enjoyable film. 4/5

* Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (PG) A sequel to 2004's film with Steve Martin. Two families find themselves in competition with each other while on holiday. 1/5

* The Chronicles of Narnia (PG) CS Lewis' children's fantasy/Biblical allegory is brought to the screen in full CGI glory. The world of Narnia is lavishly recreated with the latest technology and it looks good but it feels a little overwrought. 3/5

* The Family Stone (PG) Sarah Jessica Parker stars as an uptight young woman who rubs everyone up the wrong way when she meets her boyfriend's family for the first time. 3/5

* Lassie (PG) Loveable Lassie bounds onto the big screen to save the day. 3/5

* Flightplan (12A) Jodie Foster returns to the plucky mother territory of Panic Room in a film which starts off as a taut, Hitchcockian thriller but unfortunately goes downhill in the second half. It ends up as little more than a straight action fest, with cheap thrills and story full of holes. 2/5

* Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (12A) It's the moment Harry Potter fans have been waiting for ever since finishing reading the sixth book in the summer. This is the fourth instalment of JK Rowling's series to make it on to the big screen. 5/5
