Arts: Precious Little Sleep for dance star Wayne
A DANCE dynamo who’s been performing for the last 45 years returns to Stevenage later this week with a brand new show.
Renowned dancer and entertainer Wayne Sleep will take to the stage at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Precious Little Sleep, a show choreographed by himself and based on the 62-year-old’s life and career.
Speaking to The Comet during rehearsals, Wayne said of the tour: “We’ve tried to cover important points in my life and the very special moments...otherwise it could go on forever!
“I also do my Charlie Chaplin impersonation and John McEnroe so there’s lots of little funny moments too.
Wayne will perform after losing two stone in six weeks, getting back into fighting fit shape following surgery.

He said: “I had a total hip operation last year and I talk about injury stories during the show.
“For six weeks the only thing I was allowed to do was walk but I was in a lot of pain before.

“It’s given me a new lease of life. In this time of my career it’s time to hand something back to the kids and we’ll try and get some on stage to do a workshop or learn a routine.
“I may remember different bits of what I’ve done so for each show it will be kept fresh. There’s 10 live numbers too and I’ve been rehearsing for the last six months.”
Precious Little Sleep comes to the Lytton Way-based theatre on Friday, January 28. The performance starts at 7.45pm with tickets priced at �21.
