ON the day of its release this was already the fastest-selling debut album of all time in the UK, demand outstripping that seen for Britain's last real saviours, Oasis in 1995.
But it has to be said, any cynical reservations about their musical and lyrical ability are sent flying faster than a pensioner hit by a joyrider.
Rows with girlfriends, scrapes with the cops and Sheffield's seedy red light district are just some of the teen-centric focal points delivered with candour, intelligence and a sneer, backed largely by Stella and spliff-fuelled British punk-pop.
For once, a band that deserves most of the hype. 5/5
