An evening of enchanting entertainment is promised by members of the Putteridge Bury Gilbert & Sullivan Society this weekend.
They are presenting An Enchanted Evening at St Mary’s Church in Pirton on Saturday night, starting at 7.45pm.
Included on the programme are well-known choruses and ensembles from opera and musical theatre.
Variety is the order of the day, and the works to be performed include extracts from Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss to classic Broadway and big screen hits like Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady and Rodgers & Hammerstein hit South Pacific, right through to extracts from more modern shows like Wicked!
There will, of course, also be offerings from the Gilbert & Sullivan canon in what’s billed as an evening of great singing and lots of fun. Tickets are just £10 and part of the proceeds will go towards the St Mary’s Back of Church project.
