It’s not just music on offer at Hitchin’s Club 85 – recent new ventures at the Whinbush Road venue include stand-up comedy and even debates about the big issues of the day.

But music is at the heart of what Club 85 does, so the latest new date on the calendar is closer to the core.

JazzUp will launch on Sunday, May 29 with doors opening at 7.45pm and just £7 up front will get you in for a gig that will run until midnight.

On the bill are Dave Keech’s Close To The Bone band who will be welcoming a special guest in the shape of tenor sax titan Simon Spillett.

Organisers have billed the event as “jazz of the take-no-prisoners variety, from the classic Blue Note era, to hard bop and beyond.”

Advance tickets are available online and at outlets in Hitchin, Stevenage and Letchworth, visit www.club-85.co.uk for all the details. If you don’t plan ahead you’ll be asked for £10 on the door.
