Redford is retired rancher Einar. He is still in shock from his only son's death and has let his ranch fall into ruin, along with his marriage.

He seems intent on living out his days in this heartbroken solitude - until daughter-in-law Jean (J-Lo), who he blames for his son's accident, shows up. Not only that, Jean has in tow an 11-year-old girl named Griff, who she swears is the grand-daughter Einar never knew he had.

Slowly Griff's longing for a family begins to chip away at Einar's heart, opening up the way for a true reunion.

Morgan Freeman also stars.
