Never one to mince her words, Ms Winehouse had quite a challenge on her hands to equal her platinum-selling debut Frank, in terms of both tunes and attitude.
Comeback single Rehab silences any doubters with its big-horn heart and beautiful holler of Amy's voice, proving there's plenty left in this Ivor Novello award winner yet.
Its 11 tracks might zip by in just 36 minutes, but it's dripping with snappy melodies, deft lyrics and feisty vocals.
The jazz-informed sound of her debut gives way to 60s girl-group soul, and the bolshy diva we knew has matured into a more worldy-wise, but no less fiery, talent.
Compelling stuff.
