A NIGHT of original music featuring some of the best up and coming local bands is coming to Stevenage next weekend.

The evening features the line-up of the energetic The Mynd Set, the delightfully unique Decades Apart and new boys on the block Outshined.

The Mynd Set, which formed in the town, merge the best of the 60s and present day into one giant ball of danceable fuzz rock, complemented by the powerful vocals of Matthew Barrett.

They defy genres, bend the eras, and will get the crowd going with their raw, raucous energy.

Decades Apart aren’t the type to play it safe, and they will be showcasing their mix of original songs, from ballads to rocking, to get-up-and-dance numbers. And newbies Outshined, whose influences include Metallica and Foo Fighters, will be showcasing their own material.

Organised by Stevenage-based Bare Bones, the event kicks off at 9pm next Friday at the CIU Club in Stevenage Old Town.

Carl Dawson, from Bare Bones, said: “It will be a great night. The venue is purpose built to hold concerts, with a stage, great acoustics and a capacity of 200 people.

“We want people to come along and support local, original bands. It’s hard work being in an original band, you hardly get paid for gigs, you do it for the love of music.

“At the end of the day, all the great bands that people know of started somewhere, doing their own material and struggling to get noticed. This is what my wife and I (Bare Bones) want to help prosper: creative, new, refreshing, different acts. If people come along, they won’t be disappointed.”

As well as live music, there will be a light show and DJ playing music inbetween bands from 8pm until midnight.

Tickets cost a fiver on the door.
