Acoustic singer-songwriter Kelly Oliver is curating an evening of taster sets from local musicians who have supported the club.

Kelly, who hails from Stevenage, was given her first break last year by Maureen and Keiron Jones, who have been running the club for almost 50 years.

She will be performing bookend spots at the beginning and the end of the bill and also introducing five other acoustic acts.

Those acts include:

l Beau Jangles, a Hitchin-based duo playing roots music with a groove. They played the eclectic Arcadeclectic stage at Rhythms of the World in the summer and also regularly host the Roots‘n’Roll Café nights at the town’s Club 85.

l Mike Excell, an award-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist from Hertford, who won the Love Folk Live traditional performer accolade earlier this year.

l ‘8 Til Late, a trio of acoustic guitarists – Richard Journet, Martin May and Tony Gammage – who play American country blues that originated in the Mississippi Delta in the 1920s and 1930s.

l Melody Causton, a 20-year-old singer/songwriter from Royston who has been coming to the club since she was born. Melody has now won ‘best female solo artist’ at Cambridge’s NMG awards two years in a row and performs self-penned folk-influenced storytelling songs.

l Jeremy Reynolds, who learned to play the guitar at university and at the same time wrote and performed his own songs at folk evenings and music events. He helped found the Preview music club in his home town of Southend, which is still going strong after 30 years.

Sunday evenings at the Sun Street venue begin at 8.15pm.
