A guitar is played by a guitarist, but what about a lute? The correct word is lutenist, and that’s what Jacob Heringman is.
The American-born musician who has been based in England for nearly 30 years has established himself as one of the world’s most respected and most innovative solo lute players, making many recordings of medieval and Renaissance music.
He will be presenting a programme called Chansons Musicales in association with The Lute Society at Benslow Music in Hitchin on Friday night, accompanied by Nancy Hadden on flute.
Tickets are £12 and there’s free entry on offer to anyone under 27.
You can reserve tickets by calling 01462 459446 and find out more about the Benslow Music programme at www.benslowmusic.org.
