A Jeffrey Archer tale adapted for the stage is Knebworth Players’ contribution to the packed Stevenage Festival programme.

The show opens at the Gordon Craig Theatre on Wednesday night and there is a further performance of the whodunnit with a twist in the tale on Thursday.

The bestselling author has written his own hit plays in the past, but this one has been scripted by Hugh Janes from a short story penned by the celebrity scribe.

Carla Moorland has been murdered, and her lover John Hoskins knows only too well that he did the deed.

But his wife is determined to keep him out of prison, even if it means that an innocent man will be punished for the crime.

The play combines a whodunit thriller with a tense courtroom drama with breathtaking effect.

Tickets are £9 and can be reserved by calling 01438 363200 or visiting www.gordon-craig.co.uk, and are also available from the box office.
