It may only be March, but that’s no reason not to get into the Christmas spirit.
Hitchin Chamber Orchestra’s Saturday night concert at the town’s St Mary’s Church features two acknowledged masterpieces of the string repertoire – Bach’s 4th Brandenburg concerto and the masterful Serenade for Strings composed by Anton Dvorak’s pupil Josef Suk.
But rounding off the evening, which starts at 7.30pm, will be Arcangelo Corelli’s 18th century Christmas Concerto.
Tickets are £10 adults, £5 students, from the nearby Hitchin Initiative offices in Churchyard.
On Sunday evening the Maggini String Quartet will be playing music by Arnold, Mozart and Schubert at Benslow Music in Hitchin’s Benslow Lane.
The concert starts at 8pm, tickets are £12 with pre-concert dining on offer at £18 and free entry for those under 27. Call 01462 459446 or email info@benslowmusic.org to book.
