Hundreds of railway enthusiasts will be making tracks along the A505 on Saturday for a show which last made a scheduled stop in Hitchin.

Luton Model Railway Club’s 32nd exhibition was held in the town’s Christchurch in 2014 but has now been able to return to its usual base, Stopsley High School in St Thomas’s Road.

Exhibition manager Dave Boutwood promises no fewer than 20 layouts, including the Ogauge layout of Harpenden East built by club member Andy Ward, plus nine trade stands and representatives from five preservation societies.

Local railway historians Geoff and Sue Woodward will also be there with photographs and memorabilia of the long-lost Hatfield to Dunstable branch line.

The exhibition opens at 10.30am and closes at 5pm.

Admission prices are adults £5, concessions £4, children £3, and families (2 adults and 2 children) £12, and free parking is available.
