A festival celebrating summer fun will see revellers rock to the sounds of the Rolling Stones while enjoying beers and having a flutter on live camel racing, just a stone’s throw from Stevenage.

The new Todd in the Hole music festival will be held at Todds Green over the weekend of July 21 and 22, and will champion traditional English fun while giving partygoers the chance to let their hair down in style.

There will be live music from the band endorsed by Mick Jagger himself as “the most famous Stones band in England”, along with village green games like tug-of-war, real ales and more.

Todd in the Hole co-founder David Nye, who is also director of The Great British Sausage Company, says the vision is for it to be more than a music festival.

“Todd in the Hole was born out of our love of the Hertfordshire countryside, our love of good food, country shows, live music and a jug of ale,” he said.

“We want our festival to be more than a music festival – we want it to be a family-friendly countryside food-and-drink extravaganza. The event will be personal and welcoming to everyone.

“We want to get the local community together to enjoy some old-fashioned fun. It will be a feel-good throwback.”

David added that the team had planned free buses to and from Stevenage railway station to ease traffic on the lanes around Todds Green and Little Wymondley.

Music at Todd in the Hole will include headline performances from The Counterfeit Stones, The Fifth Wheel and an ABBA tribute band. There will also be jazz and folk sessions, and rugby clubs will go head-to-head in a tug-of-war challenge to raise money for mental health charity JOCA.

There will be something for all tastes available as part of the Feast in the Field – featuring the Hitchin-based Great British Sausage Company and The Crispy Duck Rotisserie, of Stevenage, alongside street food from India, Greece and South Africa.

A huge pop-up pub and prosecco bar will be open throughout the festival, with roaring fire pits keeping revellers warm at night.

Tickets for a single day or the whole weekend are available now, with entry for adults costing £18.50 per day or £35 for the weekend. Children aged three and under get in free of charge.
