A group of painters based in Lilley are celebrating 20 years together with an exhibition of their work.

The Lilley Group are celebrating the occasion with a two-day exhibition at the Cassel Memorial Hall in the village’s West Street.

The group was founded by Lilley’s Tricia Shaw with Sheila Ashton and Jill Kitchener, and comprises 10 women artists who meet up to paint at the Cassell Hall every week, accompanied by Gertie the Miniature Schnauzer – who is now an honorary member, said the group’s Judith Wray.

The Lilley Group’s members live in Hitchin, Ickleford, Preston, Clifton and Stevenage as well as in the village itself. They used to hold their exhibitions in the Letchworth Museum that has now closed.

The exhibition is free and open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, June 16, and 11am to 5pm the next day.

Pictures are for sale and there will be tea, coffee and homemade cakes available.
