All Shook Up! Would-be Kings of Rock ‘n’ Roll will go head to head near Stevenage on Sunday – and Hitchin’s own Elvis will bring his show to the town hall that night.

The new Todd in the Hole music festival in Todds Green is looking for one more Elvis tribute act to take part in their Great British Elvis Off at Todds Green.

Five swivel-hipped finalists are already signed up to get all shook up on Sunday, with the 2018 title winner taking away tickets for a Las Vegas holiday for two.

But top impersonator Jim Devereaux, from Hitchin, won’t be taking part. He is bringing his Elvis the Legend show to the town hall on Sunday night, as part of Hitchin Festival.

Jim, who performs as JD King, offers a journey through the King’s career in words and music. He is one of the world’s most talked-about Elvis tribute acts, and impersonates the King in every era – from the early years to the Comeback Special and the final years in Vegas.

He headlined tribute music festival Tribfest last year, and is set to do so again next month.

Elvis the Legend is at Hitchin Town Hall at 7.30pm on Sunday, with tickets at £10 each.

As well as their Elvis competition, Todd in the Hole is set to feature Kate Bush tribute act Cloudbusting, The Counterfeit Stones, The Fifth Wheel and ABBA Lush.

The organisers are also looking for entries for their rugby club tug-of-war championship, which is being held in aid of JOCA – a charity dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health issues among young men and women.

The tug of war competition, which is supported by the Tug of War Association of Great Britain, will be on Saturday.

There will also be countryside games, a classic car show and camel racing during the two-day festival, as well as food including sausages, duck and street food from as far off as Greece, India and South Africa.

A huge pop-up pub and prosecco bar will be open throughout the festival, with roaring fire pits to keep the revellers cosy and warm at night.

Single-day tickets for Todd in the Hole are £18.50 for adults, £15 for children aged 12 to 17, £10 for juniors aged four to 11, and free for kids aged three and under. Whole-weekend tickets are available in advance. For more about tickets and entering the tug-of-war championship, have a look at toddinthehole.co.uk.
