The Settlement Players' Festival team have won their first prizes of the season at the recent Sawston Village Festival.

The set for the Players' entry, "The Ruffian on the Stair" won first prize, the group came third overall and two of the actors, Sonia Weston and Alex Miles, were nominated for best actors awards.

Director, Arlene Hui, said "We are hoping this is a good omen for the three festivals yet to come, culminating in Welwyn in June. Everyone in the team has worked very hard to make our festival entry a success and deserve to have won these prizes."

The Players are having a very busy end to their theatrical season. As well as the festivals they are into rehearsals for their June production of "What the Butler Saw", a very saucy comedy. Chairman, Pat Baskerville said "As we are also performing three short plays during the Letchworth Festival in June, at both The Arts Centre and The Settlement, we have actors and technicians working full out and before too long we will be casting for our September and November plays - phew!
