A FESTIVAL of diverse music takes place on Saturday 11 September when eight bands play everything from rockabilly to jazz, reggae and blues.

The first Buck Fest takes place at The Bucks Head in Little Wymondley on Saturday when rockers Black Dog, some of whom grew up in the village, kick things off at 2.30pm.

Also on the all-day line-up are sultry pop singer Andrea Wilde and Sarah Doe And Johnny Fever playing acoustic sets, as well as bluesmen Left Hand Drive and Tie One On. The Main Trees also play their contemporary jazz, Wayne McArther And The Universal Players play reggae and The Montgomery Music Makers turn up their jeans and their hair for a rockabilly set.

The free entry event is in aid of the Wymondley Community Garden at the back of the Bucks Head containing two spring-fed ponds and ancient trees, which pub landlady Angela Dent wants to conserve and restore for the village.
