A treble shot of two day pub festivals offers a huge range of live music this weekend.

Raising cash for Baldock’s annual Balstock Music Festival in September, The Engine opposite Baldock railway station is hosting thirteen bands over the weekend.

Picked by Balstock organiser ‘G’ LaRoche, there will be an eclectic mix of rock, ska, prog, Irish and even flamenco.

On Saturday Chaos Baby, Pilot the Fusion, The Gentle Italian, Scott Mendez, Richard Booth, Pete Guy and Billy Skins 5th will be performing. Then on Sunday it’s the turn of The Scallywags, Three Bottles Behind, No Sleep Til Bedtime, Steph Scott, Eddie and Emily Millet.

G said: “The whole event is free entry but we are trying to raise funds to ensure that Balstock Music Festival goes smoothly. All the bands give their time for free, so come down try a lager (they’ve got a global beer fest on) and give generously, so we can get Balstock swinging!”

The music will begin around 2pm each day until midnight on Saturday and 9pm Sunday.

Meanwhile over in Lower Stondon, Libby and Doug at The Bird In Hand will be hosting their Garden Music Festival.

Sorcha, Mick Jackson, Gor Jus Wrex and Tie One On will be on stage in the garden on Saturday before October Rose, Sean, (the wonderfully named) VIPeas and Steve Curtis the following day.

Entry is a fiver and the music kicks off around 1.30pm until 10pm both days.

The fourth A1 Stotfold Festival also takes place this weekend with a mix of classic rock, blues and acoustic guitar bands.

The free event on two stages (indoors and out) takes place at Tudor Oaks Lodge in Astwick.

Performing on Saturday will be Njght Fljght, Nitros Roxside, Jam Dude, Khorosho, Paul Adams, Peter Hill Band, Jayne Radio, Gunslinger, Optimist and The Warning. On Sunday there’s Orbital Kaos, Phil Romeo, Mike Parker Band, Jam Dude, Hair Resistance, Boo and Dave, The Ploughmen, Nick Moyster, The Informers, The Loft and Tie One On.

The music begins at 2pm each day and donations will go to Children with Cancer.
