AN ART exhibition with a difference - inspired by an ecological farm - takes place this weekend.

Titled earth:NOW:being, the exhibition at Church Farm in Ardeley features work by artists Valentin Manz and Christine Cynn following a 16-month collaboration with the farm, which produces food sold directly to the public in a bid to limit environmental impact.

Valentin spent 15 weeks at the farm last summer to create seven large sculptures made from the clay from ancient pits based on site, while Christine filmed her progress.

The footage has since been turned into documentary In The Pits, with Christine composing the accompanying score which has been recorded by musicians from London’s experimental scene.

Accompanying the sculptures are five large-scale oil paintings which have been installed on sheds and chicken coops around the farm.

The free exhibition, running between 4pm and 9pm on Saturday and midday and 6pm on Sunday, will also show selected works inspired by futurist ecology submitted via an open call to artists.

Sculpture building workshops will also be held on both days between 11am and 3pm.
