A THEATRICAL agent who decided to become a nun tells her real-life story in a one-woman play on Friday.

Triona Adams swapped premieres for prayers by entering a convent, only to leave after a year – wiser, slimmer, but with really bad hair.

The former nun, who first told her story in a BBC Radio 4 afternoon play, will take to Letchworth Arts Centre’s stage for Nun the Wiser.

The performance of a modern, emancipated woman answering ‘The Call’ has been hailed by The Scotsman as “well observed and funny”, while Three Weeks says Adams is a “superb performer, clearly in her element under the spotlight, commanding the stage with faultless skill and a charming calm.”

Maria Iredale, chief executive of Letchworth Arts Centre, said: “I booked it because I’ve always wanted to know what nuns do! Out of all the shows it’s the one I most wanted to see as it’s a bit different.

“We’ve had a fantastic response so far so people will have to book.”

Tickets, priced at 11 or 9 concessions, are available from the centre at The Arcade or by calling 01462 670788.

Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
