A showcase of some of the best new folk talent takes place in Hitchin on Sunday night.

With a mixture of music from around the world Hitchin Folk Club hosts Young, Gifted and Folk with The Askew Sisters, Lady Maisery and Fidola.

Hazel and Emily Askew play violin and melodeon with an infectious enthusiasm for stomping traditional songs and ballads and have played for royalty, at Glyndebourne and at folk clubs the length of the country forming an ever increasing fan base.

BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominees Lady Maisery (also featuring Hazel Askew) are a trio of accordion, harp and violin players who also sing a cappella and have revived the art of diddling – singing tunes rather than playing them on an instrument.

Fidola are an Anglo-Scandinavian duo who combine both musical traditions to create their own driving style.

Tickets for The Sun Hotel gig are 14 or 12 for members.
