A FREE showcase of some of the finest bands in Venueville is a birthday treat at Club85.

Roger King of Anonymous Promotions, long-standing promoter at the Hitchin venue and beyond, has picked some of his favourite acts to help him celebrate his big 4-O on Friday June 15.

Kicking off the event will be post-rock act Minor Pilot, who Roger described as “painting pictures with sound”. Then the unique, searing and endearing Rhythms of The World favourites The October Game are up, followed by Shefford pop, rock and funk trio Indi And The Vegas to bring the party to a kick-ass close.

Roger said his other half booked the venue as a present and he asked some of his favourite bands along, who kindly agreed to play for free.

“It seemed obvious that such a great line-up should be shared with the community. Hopefully the recession busting door price will encourage people to come along and see some of the incredible talent the local area has to offer.”

He added that the England Euro game screening downstairs will be finished before The October Game take to the stage, “so there should be no excuses!”

Doors open for the 16-plus night at 7.45pm with music from 8.15pm.
