TEENAGERS are being offered the chance to experience first-hand what life is like working behind the scenes at a theatre.

North Hertfordshire College is hosting free short courses at Plinston in Letchworth GC to give 16-to-18-year-olds an insight into the technical side of the theatre industry with the opportunity to design sets, create costumes and learn lighting and sound techniques using a specially designed mini-theatre.

Course tutor Hilary Strong said: “Employers still find that some young people lack the initiative, problem-solving and communication skills to succeed at work. This innovative and creative programme helps the participants understand why these skills are so vital in the workplace.”

The course runs from Monday, July 23, to Friday, August 3. For more information or to enrol call 01462 424242.
