AN ARTIST who has suffered from mental health problems will be displaying his work as part of a college’s Wellbeing Week.

Hitchin resident Hollis Dixon will be showcasing his art at North Hertfordshire College’s Centre for the Arts in the town for an exhibition which runs from Monday until next Friday, October 26.

Hollis turned to art three years ago after suffering with psychosis, and has also had a book published about his experiences.

He said: “Most landscape paintings are from my imagination inspired by nature and surroundings in acrylic. A new booklet called It’s Just My Opinion will be free to be pick up in the gallery along with my previous works of poems and philosophy.

“The writing content is conclusions gain from my life experience suffering from mental issues, and my understand of human nature. The exhibition supports the efforts of many to raise awareness of mental illness.”

The five-day event aims to promote and facilitate discussion around emotional wellbeing and mental health awareness, and follows Mental Health Awareness Week which was held in May.
