Baldock and Letchworth Folk Club reckon they’ve got their best ever November line-up with a former fire eater, a West-End star, and acoustic ambassador.
The Wednesday night sessions at the Orange Tree in Baldock are a regular attraction for fans of rootsy music of all kinds, and this month there’s a trio of talent on offer.
Rory McLeod will be at the club next Wednesday (November 7). An ex-circus clown and fire-eater, he is now a one-man band, using tap shoes, acappella vocals, harmonica, guitar, trombone, spoons, finger cymbals, bandorea, djembe and more to tell his upbeat stories. So not your average pub gig.
The following week, long-standing club favourite, Jez Lowe returns with his brand of traditional North Eastern music.
A veteran of more than a dozen albums and hundreds of gigs across the world in the last 25 years, his thought provoking, funny and entertaining show caught the attention of the Beeb which commissioned him to write the award-winning The Radio Ballads.
On the 28th the club welcomes another performer from the North East - Bob Fox.
Currently performing as Songman in Warhorse in Drury Lane, London, the singer and guitarist is a multiple BBC folk award best singer nominee. He joined Jez Lowe to record six new Radio Ballads for the BBC this year.
The shows cost between 8 and 12 depending on membership and concessions. Music starts at 8.30pm.
