A punk bonanza – and no fooling!

ANT, the man behind local punk promoter NHSPH, is gearing up to begin April in style with a no-holds-barred show this Saturday at Hitchin's Club 85.

Ant said: "This gig will be great for anyone who likes ska punk, punk rock, energetic music, long serving bands to the local scene, touring bands and anyone who just wants to come out on a Saturday night, get drunk and have fun."

Headlining the night are quirky ska punks Frog Stupid.

Although based locally, their members are currently attending universities all over the country so this could be the only opportunity to see them around here until the summer.

Frog's singer and guitarist Chris said: "Playing at the club is our favourite thing to do. The Hitchin crowd are always up for it, and NHSPH know how to put on a sweet line-up. We can't wait."

Support comes from hard touring band Grown At Home who play crazy, energetic ska punk in the vein of bands such as Lightyear and Less Than Jake.

Meanwhile, opening the show will be Once Over who will aim to please those who love "scuzzier, dirtier skacore", with their political ska punk deathcore assault taking influence from the likes of Antimaniax and Leftover Crack.

Doors are open to the public at 7.45pm, and entry is £4.50.

Future plans for the NHSPH include a stage at Hitchin Town Hall at the Rhythms of The World festival, this summer.

Art said: "Ideas are in the pipeline. Expect bands you have seen on NHSPH nights, who have been around the scene for a while, and there may also be a few other surprises here and there.
