Promoters’ debut

NEW promoters Miscellaneous Promotions put on their debut show at Club 85, Hitchin, tomorrow (Friday).

Kirsty, one half of the duo behind the venture, explains all about the event, whose doors open at 7.45pm.

She said: "We started out in September 2005 aiming to revive the enthusiasm for local music in young people.

"Next up is this Friday's show at Club 85. All the bands playing are incredibly talented and deserve serious recognition, and they have all been really supportive in the past.

"We're all really excited about what should be a fantastic night."

Friday's show, with entrance £4, features three bands renowned for their aggressive, emotive, rock.

Local favourites the anthemic Escape 1942, www.falltothesky.co.uk will be joined by party punks The Waterfront, www.myspace.com/thewaterfront

Also on the bill are the five piece Meet John Doe, "binding together the intelligent soundscapes of Mogwai with the experimental ferocity of Shellac and the lyrical passion of The Clash".

What next for Miscellaneous Promotions?

Kirsty said: "We're working on the idea that you shouldn't have to be aged 16 or above to enjoy your local scene, but with most venues having a 16 plus age limit, it's hard to get that message across."

Karl, the other half of Miscellaneous, added: "We're getting a lot more involved with schools, school bands and youth clubs to try and get more all-ages shows going.

"The best way to inform young people about the local scene is to go where they go, and we're hoping to sort out a school tour to highlight this."
