Tom's first album on the UK's Fat Cat label is a sparing but far from austere listen.

Softly-plucked guitar leads you on an intriguing, intimate and exciting secret walk through the woods of his mind.

Evading the wolves of traditional verse-chorus-bridge songs, Brosseau takes you instead to beautiful clearings, enchanting sun-dashed dells and to the edges of the chilling night through his wonderfully evocative quivering voice.

Occasional mouth-organ, violin or brushed drums accompany, but never detract from, Tom's folky focus of guitar and voice.

Fans of Damien Rice, Jeff Buckley, Bright Eyes et al owe it to themselves to let this creep into their lives and curl up on their lap. 4/5
