A doctor who used to occupy a lakeside home exchanges love letters with its latest occupant via a time travelling mailbox. Because, as it works out, they are actually living two years apart.
The Lake House is better suited to the page than the screen because it is such a bizarre idea. Yet strangely, if not taken too seriously, it works as a rather nice romantic film. Both Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves give passable performances as the home's two residents.
