THE Bert Kaempfert Orchestra will be performing at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage.

Theatre patrons can look forward to a memorable night of big-band and orchestral music as the 26-piece aggregation of trumpets, trombones and saxophones and the large string section play original Bert Kaempfert arrangements.

The orchestra has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, with tracks including Kaempfert's composition of Stranger In the Night - recorded by Frank Sinatra.

A songwriter as well as a composer, Bert Kaempfert's songs have also been recorded by artists such as Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald and Al Martino.

As well as a tribute to many of the Kaempfert compositions, the concert will also feature a selection of numbers made famous by such big-band luminaries as Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Harry James, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman.

The concert takes place on November 12 at 7.45pm.

Tickets, at £18.50 and £16.50 for concessions, are available from the box office on: 08700 131 030 or by visiting: www.gordon-craig.co.uk
