Hitchin band Look See Proof have had an amazing 2006.

Not even a year old they've already got themselves signed to an independent music label (Tigertrap records), released a single, and been picked up by one of the UK's top DJ's.

Look See Proof formed in January when brothers Dave and Lee Sells got together with their friend Jason Slender to bash out some tunes in the style of their heroes Gang of Four and The Police.

Adding drummer Johnny Harry, they hit things off straight away and the band's first rehearsal together spawned what has now become their debut single Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me.

The band has also racked up a session playing for legendary Radio 1 and Radio 6 presenter and champion of new music Steve Lamacq.

That radio session built up a huge bank of local fans who all piled into Hitchin's Club 85 on Friday night two weeks back to see the band perform. The show was a sell out.

Bassist Dave said: "It was mad. There were people singing along to our songs, people we don't even know, I don't know where they heard most of our music as MySpace only has our single up."

Describing it as "the best gig we've ever done" Dave told how the excitement got to Lee. "I just saw him throw his mic stand to one side and go careering into the crowd." It ended with two of the band members crowd surfing, and a stage invasion by their hoards of followers.

So what does the future hold for the band? "Obviously we'd love to be in The NME, but as far as I'm concerned I can die happy now," Jason said.

Such humble beginnings but such aspirations mean that this band is destined for big things. Give them your support at www.myspace.com/lookseeproof
