A COLLECTION of vintage footage, home movies and current footage of musician and artist Daniel Johnston has been pieced together by director Jeff Feuerzeig in what is a volatile portrait of a leading artistic mind.
Daniel Johnston, a prolific musician who suffers from bipolar disorder, is a fascinating subject and this is an equally fascinating documentary.
It is straight down the middle, sympathetic but harsh and, along with Werner Herzog's Grizzly Man, is one of the best documentaries this decade.
