TICKETS are now on sale for the smash hit spectacular - West Side Story - at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage.

Set in New York, this Broadway musical gives Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet a modern twist as two lovers from warring street gangs find themselves caught up in a world of violence and hate.

More than 30 talented individuals from Comet country will be rehearsing for the show, directed by Scott St Martyn.

Martin Neely, who plays the part of Lieutenant Schrank, also appeared as Riff in West Side Story, at the Gordon Craig, 12 years ago.

He said: "It's great to be coming back and seeing some old faces. I'm very excited to be involved because it's such a great musical."

He added: "We haven't started rehearsals yet but I'm really looking forward to it. It's a musical for all the family and everyone will enjoy it. It will be lots of fun and there's something in it for everyone."

The combination of Leonard Bernstein's musical score and Stephen Sondheim's lyrics allows the love story to unfold through a series of wonderful musical numbers.

Performances run from August 14 to August 19 and, if you book tickets, you can save £5 on a ticket for A Chorus Line - another classic musical being performed at the Gordon Craig later this month.
