Dressed like they've escaped from a twisted fancy dress party and headed by dynamic frontwoman Shingai Shoniwa, Noisettes leave an indelible impression from the off.
Their debut album takes no prisoners, packed with twanging rockabilly at its hedonistic best, embellished with growls, squeals, and a hell-for-leather stomp.
Having toured with Muse and Babyshambles among others last year, Noisettes have honed their performances to their entrancing, dangerous best, pushing Shingai's primeval-yet-beautiful vocals and rib-shaking bass to the fore.
Don't Give Up and Cannot Even (Break Free) are punchy highlights, but Shingai's gossamer vocals also deliver the beautifully restrained Hierarchy. It's 40 minutes of largely brash, sparky fun. 4/5
