WE ALL know the Monopoly board. We have all thrown our dice and trundled around the streets of London intent on accumulating property, money and prestige.

But do we actually know it that well? How did the nation's favourite game come about in 1936 and what has happened to the Underground stations during the years since then?

Humourist and travel writer Tim Moore set out to find out, visiting every stop on the board from the Old Kent Road to Mayfair. Along the way he called in at London's oldest prison - Pentonville, found out about the kosher coaches that used to run from Whitechapel to the Derby, and rode down the Euston Road on a motorbike.

Like all of Tim Moore's books this is light and easy to digest. It also has some fascinating information and is ideal for cold winter nights when you need a warm smile.
