PSYCHOLOGICAL thriller, The Business of Murder, is coming to The Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage.

Dee, a successful TV writer, arrives at the flat of a man named Stone, having accepted an invitation to discuss a script his wife has written.

She is rather surprised when Detective Inspector Hallet, with whom she is having an affair, also arrives, apparently to discuss Stone's son's involvement in a drugs ring.

After many twists and turns, Stone's intentions become clear as he slowly reveals the precise nature of the trio's relationship. It seems, in their own way, all three are very much concerned with the business of murder, and the play culminates in another perpetration of the crime.

The play stars Sally Ann Matthews - who played Jenny Bradley in Coronation Street - and Todd Carty - who played Mark Fowler in EastEnders and Gabriel Kent in The Bill.

Todd said: "It's a murder mystery and there are lots of twists and turns. The audience plays an important part and is taken on a journey and kept in suspense until the end."

Speaking about whether he prefers TV or stage acting, he said: "You will never get the same buzz as you do from a live audience. You only get one chance so that can be daunting but, for the buzz and sheer adrenaline, I'd say theatre. I get opening night nerves but once I get the first line out of the way it's usually okay."

The play will be performed at 7.45pm from February 26 to March 1. There will also be matinee performances at 2.30pm on February 28 and March 1.

Tickets, which are £15.50 for the matinee performances and start at £17 for the evening performances, are available from the box office on 08700 131 030 or online at www.gordon-craig.co.uk
