CHRISTMAS was extra special for Hitchin Museum when it received a fantastic donation of 63 photograph albums and scrapbooks compiled over a period of 20 years and covering many aspects of the history of Hitchin and the surrounding area.
The volumes cover everything from churches to markets and mills and even Churchgate.
Curator of Hitchin Museum, David Hodges, said: "This is an incredible new resource and an extremely useful addition to the archive. It is ready for researchers and visitors to come and look at, and the information will also be really useful in preparing new displays and exhibitions."
If you want to see any of the volumes, call the museum on 01462 434476 to book a session in the research room.
Hitchin Museum is open from 10am until 5pm daily (except Wednesdays and Sundays).
