ONE of Britain's leading art groups has taken over the main gallery at Letchworth Arts Centre with an exhibition of contemporary prints, which runs until April 11.

The theme of the exhibition by the Printmakers Council, the top body promoting the art of printmaking in this country, is Personal Journeys.

It includes a solo show by Colin Gillespie, who focuses on the urban landscape and the varied relationships of people and places within that context. His work features linocut prints in particular, but he also works with wood panels.

Admission to the exhibition is free.

THE Bancroft Juniors present Olivia! at The Queen Mother Theatre in Hitchin.

This innovative musical, set in Victorian times, traces the steps of Olivia, from downtrodden orphan to star of the stage. On her journey to the bright lights, she is befriended by Eliza Doolittle, of My Fair Lady fame, and eventually becomes a singer thanks to the unlikely assistance of Oliver's very own Fagin and the Artful Dodger.

The show is full of wit, humour and catchy tunes, with cameo appearances of favourite characters from classic musicals.

The musical takes place at 7.30pm from April 17 to April 19.

Tickets, at £7 or £5 for concessions, are available from the box office on 01462 455166 or online at www.queenmothertheatre.org.uk
