A charity concert on Saturday night will see singers from Stevenage and Basingstoke come together for a good cause.

The joint Stevenage Ladies Choir and Basingstoke Ladies Choir concert at the church of St Hugh & St John in Chells starts at 7.30pm and will be raising funds to support the work of the Hertfordshire branch of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.

Around 50 singers from each group will be taking part, with Stevenage members under musical director Ann-Marie Chessman working on the chosen music since January.

The choir has just returned from a trip to North Wales to sing with a male voice choir, and the programme will reflect that experience, as well as wartime selections to mark continuing observance of the centenary of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of VE Day.

Tickets are £8 with £6 concessions and are available at the door in Mobbsbury Way or by calling 07967 402138.
