Darren Sarll is seeing a ‘growth’ to Stevenage after his side’s draw at Exeter stretched their unbeaten run to five games.

Boro are up to eight in the League Two table, just one place outside of the play-offs, after Jobi McAnuff’s individual effort was cancelled out by Exeter striker Reuben Reid in a thoroughly entertaining game at St James Park.

Speaking about his side’s display, and upturn in form, Sarll said: “I want people to enjoy the brand of our football and we all know with Paul [Tisdale, Exeter boss] his sides play a certain way with a little bit of class and grace.

“We saw Exeter’s determination second half. I thought we got ourselves into a good position first half and thought we played terrifically well, really brave and courageous with the football.

“My only disappointment was second half we didn’t continue for longer spells.

“The one really plus point for me is that this point away in the manner in which the win was conceded is a massive step forward for us in how we react to goals going in.

“We were strong, resilient and tried our absolute hardest to makes sure that we at least came away with the point. There was definitely growth.”

Sarll continued: “We are a team at the moment in really good form. We’re unbeaten in five going into last 14 games of the season.

“At the moment we have something there to grit our teeth onto, hold on to dear life and continue to keep churning out good points.

“We have a really tough game next week at Crewe but I like the growth in this team but we were without two big men in Charlie Lee and Jack King.

“It was a good game, I thought we had the first half and they had the second half. It still means we can have a little go at things.”
