A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a Stevenage FC player was punched during celebrations for the club’s FA Cup win over Newcastle on Saturday.

The 24-year-old from Stevenage is currently in police custody, being questioned in connection with the attack on defender Scott Laird during a pitch invasion at the Broadhall Way stadium after the 3-1 win over the premiership side.
