Stevenage fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Coventry in Sky Bet League Two on Friday night.
Promotion chasing Coventry made a superb start at the Rioch Arena when Marc McNulty’s brace had them 2-0 up with just five minutes played.
Alex Revell pulled on back for the visitors just 15 minutes later before Liam Kelly put the home side 3-1 up.
Luke Wilkinson was sent off just before the break to cap off a miserable evening for Dino Maamria’s side.
Boro made the worst possible start, finding themselves 2-0 down inside five minutes through McNulty’s quickfire brace.
His first came with just two minutes on the clock when his 30-yard drive escaped the hands of Tom King before finding the back of the net.
The Scots second came from close range when he stabbed home Jordan Willis’ header after some poor defending from the away side at a corner.
Dino Maamria’s men thought they had found a way back into the game through Revell’s close range effort in the 20th minute - his third goal for the club - but, Kelly restored the Sky Blues two-goal advantage with a well placed shot from the edge of the area with 38 minutes played.
Already 3-1 down before half-time, things went from bad to worse for Stevenage just 60 seconds later when Wilkinson was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on McNulty.
The second-half was devoid of any real goal mouth action but, Boro saw half-time substitute Dale Gorman leave the field on a stretcher with what looked to be a serious injury.
Stevenage return to action next Saturday when they play Exeter City at the Lamex in their final home game of the season.
