Teddy Sheringham is hoping for a better defensive performance from his players when Boro host Barnet today.

Stevenage, who have not won in their last six matches, lost 3-2 at Plymouth Argyle last weekend to take their total number of goals conceded in the league this season to 50 – the highest in the division.

Sheringham has been looking for reinforcements in defence, and after enquiring into the availability of Southend United centre-half Luke Prosser recently this week signed Luke Wilkinson from Luton Town.

Speaking ahead of today’s game, Sheringham said: “We have analysed what’s been wrong over the last four, five, six games and we need to do things better and hopefully we will.

“I feel as a team you defend as a unit and attack as a unit and we’ve not been good enough defensively. Simple as that. As a whole team we’ve not been good enough. We’re not alienating anyone, we have to be better as a team.

“We’re at home, and we’re going for the win.”
