Teddy Sheringham says he saw a 'big improvement' from his Stevenage side in their goalless draw with Barnet.

Stevenage’s winless run extended to seven matches with the draw, but the game saw a first clean sheet since mid-November for Sheringham’s men.

The Boro boss says the game was a ‘scruffy’ encounter, but he was pleased with the overall performance.

“I don’t think it was a spectacle for people who came to watch for entertainment but it was a full-blooded affair and you could enjoy it from that point of view,” Sheringham said.

“It was a game of few chances. It was a scruffy affair. The way Martin Allen sets his teams up you knew it was going to be a scruffy affair.

“We were put to the test without a doubt, but I felt we stood up to that test. From my point of view it was a big improvement on where we’ve been over the last couple of weeks.

“We showed big desire, and I’m delighted. If anyone was going to nick it we were.”
