AN open Southern League Premier Division clash saw Hitchin Town go down 3-1 at home to relegation-threatened Cirencester Town. There were plenty of chances at both ends but The Canaries were two down at the break and Cirencester extended their lead before Josh Sozzo netted a consolation in injury time.

STUART Beevor gave Arlesey Town a half-time lead in their Southern League Division One East match at Harlow Town, only for the home team to hit back and grab a 1-1 draw.

IN the Minerva Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Langford eased themselves out of the bottom three with a 3-2 win at Broxbourne Borough. Langford fell behind but hit back with goals from Wayne Goldsmith, Marc Holmes and Lee Wilson before Broxbourne hit back to set up a tense finish.

Biggleswade Town had to settle for a 1-1 draw at bottom side Haringey Borough.

In Division One, Arlesey Athletic lost a nine-goal thriller at home to Cockfosters 6-3.

POTTON United kept up the pressure at the top of the Eagle Bitter United Counties League Premier Division with a 2-1 home win against Holbeach, who took the lead but were undone by goals from Paul Garrett and Wes Byrne. The win leaves Potton 12 points clear at the top of the table but second placed Woodford United have four games in hand while Northampton Spencer have played three games less than The Royals.

Stotfold slumped 3-1 at home to struggling Desborough Town.
