The deadline for entries is Friday January 18, 2019 and can now be made via our special website

Launched in 2001, the awards have become one of the biggest dates in the calendar as they celebrate a variety of sportsmen, women and children in a host of categories.

Badminton starlet Leona Lee was one of the big winners in 2017 and rates it among the highlights of her fledgling career.

Lee said: “I had an amazing night at the Comet Sports Awards last year and to win the category for Youth Achievement was a memorable evening.

“A big thank you to all concerned. I’ve spent the last year working really hard to reach my goals and have lifted a few big titles over the last 12 months but to be honoured with a Comet Sports Award is up there with the best of them.

“I’d like to thank my parents, specially my dad who has given all his attention and devotion to my badminton – I’m already looking forward to the next one!”

So if you know any individual or team who might be worthy of receiving one of our awards, do not delay as time is running out to make your nominations.

Visit the website now to make your suggestion and follow either @CometSportAward on Twitter or @comersportswards on Facebook.

The Sports Personality of the Year award has been sponsored by Stevenage Borough Council, while the Team of the Year prize is sponsored by Redwood Bank.
