WILLIAM Ransom Primary School in Hitchin came third in the national finals of the 2008 Asda Kwik Cricket competition.
The Hitchin school, county winners and runners-up in the East of England regional finals, went up to Grace Road in Leicestershire on Monday. Around 12,000 primary schools took part in this year's competition and the finalists represented the top 16 teams in the UK.
The event was contested by the qualifiers from the regional champions from around the country and Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The winners from each of the four groups qualified for the semis where William Ransom were beaten by Uplands, the eventual winners, from Sandhurst who were representing the South Region.
William Ransom were beaten in the regional finals at Mildenhall last Tuesday, while Almond Hill from Stevenage failed to get past the group stages.
